HK Week notes 2nd May 25

Good Things Buffet this Week in KAMCAB
Sharing is Caring and happy to share the good that came this week:
- Good thing number 1- Streams of new projects and funding are flowing our way. The collective work of Citizens Advice Scotland has secured a Council Tax Engagement programme for a year and a great pot of unrestricted funding from Foundation Scotland- All the testimony to the collective work and expertise of the network.
- Good thing number 2- the above allows me to upskill and increase the Team’s reach- We are so fortunate to have a committed and passionate Team at the Bureau and there is nothing more rewarding than giving them the opportunity to run with that passion to bring positive impact to our community.
- Good thing number 3- I attended my first Management Conference for Citizens Advice Scotland. This is the engine room of the machine of social good that is the Citizens Advice Network. Managers from about 30 years’ experience to the new kids on the block on me. All connected by our real drive to make a difference in our communities.
Big shout out to Karen Nailen and the others at the COCAB committee for pulling together.Invaluable learning from CEO of Fife Gingerbread, Laura Miller and her work on working to create systematic change to the injustices that create family poverty.
CEO of Robertson Trust, Dr Jim McCormick and their strategic funding directions to again break down the systems for positive change. We heard from the lived experience of childhood trauma and the testimony to human resilience and transformation.James Docherty and his work from childhood chaos to leading our young gang members out of a cycle of violence to empowerment through the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit.Integrity, honesty, passion and lived experience is a heady cocktail for social change.
Thanks to Duncan Dunlop for facilitating these great two days that will ripple into all our respective Bureaus in Scotland for the tide of positive change.
You are on the Bus for the direction of positive change, or you are not.
