HK Week notes 9/7/26
I have often heard that a Citizens Advice Bureau is like a fourth emergency service.
An incident this week really brought that to sharp focus.
One of our Team diligently went to follow up on an absent client and found his wife with advanced dementia in a distressed state. He went on to find that her husband was dead in the house and the Police confirmed this gentleman was likely to be deceased for up to a month.
A very sad case but great outcome that our Advisor had found this situation to ensure the wife received the care she needs.
The holistic work we do is to never be underestimated as we seek to meet the challenges of our community.
As the official Citizens Advice website says:
“We speak up for people
No one else sees so many people with so many different kinds of problems, and that gives us a unique and unmatched understanding of the issues that are affecting people in our society. And this insight is valued by businesses, other charities, and the government. We’re a voice for the people we help. With our evidence, we can advocate for changes to the government policies and industry practices that we know make life hard for people. “
A literal lifeline in many situations.
