HK Week Notes 12/2/26
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
Good things that happened this week
I never fail to be amazed at the people that come to our doors here at KAMCAB. I had a young man approach me to come onto the Board. Maybe that seems ordinary but this man is not ordinary. A war refugee from Ukraine who came here with nothing. A few years on and he is advancing in his academic course and looking to put back to the place he got support when he landed in Scotland. His experience of CAB has really helped him. I am so humbled he wants to help us and just awe struck by his resilience.
Difficulties faced this week
A very upset client was at the door and would not accept we could not see him without an appointment. Unfortunately, it quickly escalated and he had to be left outside and the Police called. Luckily it did not turn physical but was a reminder to me of the Trauma people carry and the need to protect our Staff and Volunteer Team from those challenges as they seek to support.
Achievements this week
A very tight deadline was achieved and many obstacles overcame to ensure it was in on time. Actually, it was in early and that is such a great feeling. Winning Gold.
Learned this week
None of us are an island and the success of the above was due to the expertise and good will of many people I have the good fortune to lean on. Heartfelt thanks to them and TEAMWORK.
